Alyoshenka, The Kyshtym Dwarf: Was It Really An Alien From Outer Space??

A mysterious creature with an unknown identity was discovered during the mid-’90s, in the city of Kyshtym.
The origin of the creature could not be recognized and there were various loopholes in the story.
The events were kept on being associated with numerous rumors and speculation.
Some eyewitnesses to the strange phenomenon refuse to give interviews, the stories of others are frank inventions.
All of it began with an intriguing document of an unseen yet real baby called “Alyoshenka”.

A mysterious creature found in a small town in the Urals, “Alyoshenka” didn’t happen to live a happy or long life. People still conflict over what or who it was.

The curious case of Alyoshenka

Alyoshenka, The Kyshtym Dwarf: Was It Really An Alien From Outer Space??

“Alyoshenka” was discovered in a pile of sand on the night of a strong thunderstorm in the summer of 1996, Tamara Prosvirina, a 74 years old woman who used to live in the village of Kalinovo, in the Kyshtym district of the Chelyabinsk region.

The strange and bizarre event was witnessed by many as Prosvirina was walking down the street with something covered in a blanket while talking to it.
The old retired woman started referring to “Alyoshenka” as her son and kept him swaddled in.

“She was telling us ― ‘It’s my baby, Alyoshenka [short for Alexey]!’ but never showed it. Proserpina actually had a son named Alexey, but he was grown-up and in 1996 he was doing time for theft. So, we decided that the woman had gone nuts ― talking to a toy, thinking of it as her son.”

Locals
That stormy night, Tamara Prosvirina went on a walk to fetch some water. What she found on that walk has confused people from all over the world.

Tamara Prosvirina was suffering from some mental issues as she was being treated for schizophrenia several months after the incident.
However, surprising everybody, the thing covered in a blanket was no toy but a living creature that she had found in the woods near a well.

Who Was Alyoshenka: Real alien?

Alyoshenka was described as a 20-25-centimeter-tall humanoid who didn’t look human at all.
Tamara Naumova, who was a friend of Prosvirina’s had seen Alyoshenka in her apartment and later told Komsomolskaya Pravda that its onion-shaped didn’t look human at all.
She further stated that:

“Brown body, no hair, big protruding eyes, moving its tiny lips, making squeaky sounds.”

Another eyewitness, who was the daughter-in-law of Prosvirina stated that:

“His mouth was red and round, he was looking at us. Prosvirina was feeding the strange ‘baby’ with cottage cheese and condensed milk. He looked sad, I felt pain while looking at him.”

The locals used to describe Alyoshenka differently.
For instance, Vyacheslav Nagovsky stated that the strange baby was “hairy” and had “blue eyes.”
Nina Glazyrina, Prosvirina’s other friend, stated: “He was standing near the bed, with big eyes,” and also mentioned the presence of hair whereas some said that the humanoid was hairless.

The only thing that was common in the belief of all the eyewitnesses was that the baby was a real alien.
However, testimonies of people like Nagovsky and Glazyrina are dubious: both were drunkards (as well as most other Prosvirina’s friends) and later died of alcoholism.

Radioactive place

A film called “The Kyshtym Dwarf” was made by Journalist Andrey Loshak.
He later stated that:

“Perhaps Alyoshenka was a [extraterrestrial] humanoid, but in this case, he made a mistake landing in Kyshtym.”

Andrey Loshak

His statements seemed reasonable as a city with more than a population of 37,000 is not exactly a paradise.
In 1957, Kyshtym was confronted with the first nuclear disaster in Soviet history.
Plutonium exploded at Mayak, a nearby secret nuclear power station, throwing the 160-ton concrete lid into the air.
This nuclear explosion is considered the third-most serious nuclear accident in history, behind Fukushima in 2011 and Chernobyl in 1986.
The region and atmosphere were extremely polluted and became hazardous.

“Sometimes fishermen catch fish with no eyes or fins.”

So, the theory that Alyoshenka was a human mutant deformed by radiation was also a popular explanation.

The mutant baby died

One unfortunate day, Prosvirina was taken away by the doctors and she kept saying that she wanted to stay with Alyoshenka because without her he would die.

“But how could I believe the words of a woman with acute schizophrenia?”

The local paramedic

The Kyshtym dwarf did die with no one to feed him.
Prosvirina’s friend Naumova was interrogated that why did not she feed the baby to which she answered that:

“Well, goddamit, aren’t you freaking geniuses? I wasn’t in the village back then!”

By the time she came back, the strange creature had already died.
With Prosvirina gone, a friend found the body and formed some type of a mummy:

“washed it with spirit and dried it,” wrote a local newspaper.

Later, the man was arrested for stealing cable and showed the body to the police.

Poor investigation

“Vladimir Bendlin was the first person who tried to make sense of this story while being sober.”

Loshak

Vladimir Bendlin was a local police officer who confiscated the body of Alyoshenka from the thief.
His boss, however, displayed no interest in the case and ordered him to give up this nonsense.

But Bendlin, whom Komsomolskaya Pravda used to refer to as “Fox Mulder from the Urals,” conducted his own private investigation, with Alyoshenka kept in his fridge.

“Don’t even ask what my wife told me about it.”

Vladimir Bendlin

Bendlin failed to confirm or refute his extraterrestrial origins.
A local pathologist suggested that Alyoshenka wasn’t a human, while a gynecologist claimed that it was just a child with terrible deformations.

A grave mistake was committed by Bendlin when he handed over Alyoshenka’s body to a ufologist, who never returned it back and it has not been seen again ever since then.

The final outcome

His mother Prosvirina, died in 1999 in an accident.
It is said she had been dancing on a highway when she was hit by a truck. Most of the eyewitnesses also have died.
Even to this day, scientists, journalists, and even psychics argue about who (or what) he was, offering very bizarre versions: from an alien to an ancient dwarf.

Nevertheless, serious experts remain skeptical.
Something similar to Alyoshenka, a humanoid mummy was discovered in Atacama, Chile, but it was later proven in 2018 to be a human whose phenotype was caused by rare gene mutation.
