UFO sightings in New York were up 31% from last year (46, compared to 35) and a surprising 283% from just a dozen in 2018, according to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC)
UFO Sightings In New York
Brooklyn tops the list with 12 close encounters. Not far behind are Manhattan with 11 and Queens with 10. Staten Islanders harvest just 8, despite the township’s reputation for not social distancing. The Bronx is in last, with so 5.
Two of the most memorable extra worldly incidents occurred during the summer, on Staten Island, and in the Bronx.
In the early morning of July 21, a State citizen claimed to be staring at an “oval” craft that “looked and sounded like a helicopter. So the mysterious flying machine “sent a wave of heat/radiation through my body.”
“I honestly thought that it was the government that was putting something on the air with everything that happened during these times and I thought that I would wake up and find it on the news or on Instagram,” commented the eyewitness.
Late on June 8, a Bronxite observed 30 objects “flying in a perfect line, in perfect sync” that “looked like a bunch of moving stars.”
The observer insisted: ‘I don’t drink or take drugs at all. I’m not a UFO conspiracy theorist. “
A disturbing episode can occur anytime, anywhere.
On the night of September 15, a Brooklyn resident poked his head “through the bathroom window of my house on the second floor” and saw “orange and metallic orbs, motionless over the Canarsie / Jamaica Bay area.”
By the time I called my son, they had already left. I couldn’t believe what I had seen, ”said the Brooklynite.
The aliens can put on a show too. On February 21, a Manhattanite reported six UFOs “dancing” over the Statue of Liberty on February 21.
The reports offer time, place, and a lot of speculation, but not much detail. And the observers are rarely identified. Still, NUFORC Director Peter Davenport has no doubt that witnesses are seeing what they are seeing.
“I think these things we call UFOs visit us routinely,” Davenport, 72, told the New York Post , adding that he has had “five sighting experiences.”
When asked why the beings from space would want to come into contact with the madness of our world today, the ufologist replied: “You are going to have to talk to the extraterrestrials. I don’t know what these creatures are doing or what their goal might be in being here.
